SUMMARY:CalTrin Expanding Social Supports to Achieve Better Outcomes
DESCRIPTION:Training Overview\nDid you know that having social connection and support in your life makes you live 3.7 years longer than someone without support? Come to the Social Support workshop to learn what you can do to increase your lifespan and have a happier and healthier life. During this fun and interactive workshop\, you will learn about why we all need support in our lives. You will also utilize hands-on tools to assess\, plan for\, and develop social connections and support. Practical tools and techniques will be shared during the training to promote the expansion of support systems and connections. Typically\, system professionals do not recognize the development of support systems as an important component of their role. When families are struggling\, access to support is often the answer to success. DESCRIPTION:Training Overview\nThis training will review characteristics of trauma-related disorders and neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g.\, autism spectrum disorder\, ADHD) in children ages birth through 5 years. We will review complex presentations and highlight the overlap and distinctions. We will also explain how broadening your perspective can help you to understand a child’s needs and link families to appropriate services to promote positive outcomes. \nParticipants will\n\nExamine the overlap between neurodevelopmental disorders and trauma\nExplain why trauma-informed and developmentally informed approaches to working with children with developmental\, social-emotional\, and behavioral concerns are important for positive outcomes\nExamine the importance of flexible perspectives and the value of treatment over time in understanding a child’s needs\nLook at appropriate evidence-informed options for therapy\n\nWho should attend \nAll staff of family resource center (FRCs)\, child abuse prevention councils (CAPCs)\, community-based organizations\, and other child- and family-serving systems. \nImportant Training Information\n\nThis is an interactive training. SUMMARY:CalTrin Becoming a Trauma-Informed Leader: Preparing for Change at the Personal & Team Level
DESCRIPTION:Training Overview\nThe last couple of years have been incredibly challenging for leaders who have supported staff throughout a time of profound societal change. Leaders are trying to achieve the ultimate balancing act by ensuring that they continue to provide necessary services to the public\, support their staff with both compassion and accountability\, and take care of themselves. \nThis workshop series is designed to build on the Trauma-informed Leadership webinar from August 2023 through two intensive deep-dive conversations. Part 1 (February 7) will focus on supporting the individual leader to prepare to do this work\, and part 2 (March 6) will focus on supporting leaders to implement this work with their team with a focus on developing safety\, trust\, and boundaries. In each section\, participants will engage in self-assessment and self-reflection activities to identify their areas of strength as well as potential challenges. Participants will be encouraged to share and learn from one another so that they can leave the session with concrete strategies to support their development as trauma-informed leaders. \nRegister through CalTrin
