SUMMARY:IHS | Working with Families Impacted by Parental Depressive Disorders
DESCRIPTION:Training Overview\nThis intermediate-level training is designed to support caseworkers\, social workers\, counselors\, psychologists\, and other helping professionals who are working alongside families impacted by a parental diagnosis of a Depressive Disorder. \nWhen parents suffer from mental illness\, the entire family is impacted. This training explores the effect on children when their parents have a Depressive Disorder mental health diagnosis. Participants will also engage in an exercise to help them have greater empathy for parents who struggle with Depressive Disorders. This training offers practical recommendations for facilitating support and change for parents who may struggle with their symptoms. DESCRIPTION:Training Overview\nThis 3-hour intermediate-level course is for an array of human services professionals\, including social workers\, psychologists\, counselors\, and others who are working in child welfare and related careers. \nPeople’s brains are unique\, including yours\, your colleagues\, and your clients. Neurodiversity describes the ways that unique brains process and respond to the world. Trauma can be a contributing factor to some forms of neurodivergence\, and being neurodivergent can result in increased levels of trauma. Human services work is complex. Using strategies that routinely support all kinds of brains increases the well-being and safety of everyone involved. Trauma Responsive and Neuro-Inclusive strategies go well together. We will discuss ways to incorporate these strategies at the individual\, team\, and organizational levels. SUMMARY:First Witness Mind the Gap
DESCRIPTION:Training Overview\nMind the Gap is an advanced training designed for advocates who have already completed a comprehensive 24-hour Advocacy Training. This course builds upon the foundational principles of victim advocacy outlined in the 2017 accreditation standards and prepares participants to meet the 2023 Victim Advocacy Standard for Accreditation established by the National Children’s Alliance (NCA). The training has been officially approved by the NCA. \nOver the course of 3 hours\, participants will deepen their understanding of key topics\, including: \n\nVictim Rights and Compensation (pre-reading materials)\nCultural Responsiveness and Addressing Explicit Bias\nCaregiver Resilience\nDomestic Violence and Polyvictimization\nEffective Referral Methods\n\nThrough real-life case studies and group discussions\, participants will learn how to apply these concepts in practical scenarios. \nFor advocates who have not yet completed the foundational 24-hour training as specified by the NCA\, First Witness offers comprehensive 24-hour Training for Advocates Working with a CAC. \nRegister through First Witness
