SUMMARY:CornerHouse Basic Forensic Interview Training
DESCRIPTION:Training Overview\nThis training teaches the CornerHouse Forensic Interview Protocol™ a credible\, reliable\, developmentally flexible and non-traumatic forensic interview protocol appropriate for children\, adolescents and vulnerable adults involved in a sexual abuse investigation. Training methods include lecture and discussion\, review of CornerHouse video-recorded interviews\, skill-building exercises\, and an interview practicum. These courses are designed for teams of forensic interviewers\, child protection workers\, tribal social service investigators\, law enforcement officers and prosecuting attorneys. Participants are encouraged to attend as a multidisciplinary team. Courses are outcome-based and include an exam upon completion. \nThis training is taking place in-person in Roseville\, MN. Each day training will take place from 8:00am-4:30pm Central Time. Friday will be a half day from 8:00am-1:00pm. A continental breakfast is offered each day as well as lunch on Monday and Thursday. \nRegister through CornerHouse\nPlease note that in consideration for the safety of CornerHouse staff\, other participants\, and our community\, we highly encourage all in-person attendees be vaccinated and test for Covid-19 before attending training. SUMMARY:IHS | Human Sexuality 101: The Fundamentals for Working with Children & Families
DESCRIPTION:Training Overview\nDo issues and questions about sexuality show up in your work\, sometimes when you least expect it? Do you feel that you missed out on good sex education when you were in school or just need a good refresher and update? Are you trying to understand if it makes sense for grade school kids to choose their pronouns?   Or do you work with sexually abused children and youth and wonder about the impact on their developmental journey? This 2-hour course explores the topics of sexual development\, anatomy\, and physiology and places them in current social contexts\, and will help prepare you to better support your clients as they pass through developmental stages and face challenges along the way. \nThis live\, virtual course is appropriate for social workers\, counselors\, psychologists\, and other human services professionals working with children and families. The training will include didactic lecture\, group discussion\, and time for Q and A. The workshop is led by a sex-educator/social worker who has been working to promote sexual health and safety for decades! Dr. Rosenzweig will combine important factual material with exercises to help improve your comfort level. This training incorporates lecture and discussion\, review of electronically recorded interviews\, skill-building exercises\, and an interview practicum. \nThe ChildFirst® Forensic Interview Protocol is an NCA-approved forensic interview protocol for accreditation. \nThis training will be held in-person at the First Witness Capstan Training Center in Duluth\, MN. \nScholarships are available for county\, tribes\, and other local professionals responsible for child maltreatment investigations and prosecutions in the State of Minnesota. SUMMARY:CornerHouse Basic Forensic Interview Training
DESCRIPTION:Training Overview\nThis training teaches the CornerHouse Forensic Interview Protocol™ a credible\, reliable\, developmentally flexible and non-traumatic forensic interview protocol appropriate for children\, adolescents and vulnerable adults involved in a sexual abuse investigation. Training methods include lecture and discussion\, review of CornerHouse video-recorded interviews\, skill-building exercises\, and an interview practicum. These courses are designed for teams of forensic interviewers\, child protection workers\, tribal social service investigators\, law enforcement officers and prosecuting attorneys. Participants are encouraged to attend as a multidisciplinary team. Courses are outcome-based and include an exam upon completion. \nThis training is taking place in-person in Roseville\, MN. Each day training will take place from 8:00am-4:30pm Central Time. Friday will be a half day from 8:00am-1:00pm. A continental breakfast is offered each day as well as lunch on Monday and Thursday. \nRegister through CornerHouse\nPlease note that in consideration for the safety of CornerHouse staff\, other participants\, and our community\, we highly encourage all in-person attendees be vaccinated and test for Covid-19 before attending training. The Data Say “No” \nPresented by Brett Drake\, PhD | Tuesday\, September 10\, 2024 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. CT/2:00 – 3:00 p.m. ET \nAre Black and Hispanic children “overreported” to Child Protective Services (CPS)?  We present national data from CDC\, the Census and the National Data Archive on Child Abuse and Neglect.  We compare racial differences in child maltreatment reports to racial differences in a range of known risks (e.g. poverty) and outcomes (e.g. infant mortality).  We found that Black children are being reported to CPS at a rate lower than would be expected given their high exposure to risks and high levels of non-maltreatment negative outcomes.  Hispanic children are reported to CPS at a rate lower than their risk exposure would suggest\, but similar to their rates of negative outcomes\, such as infant mortality.  This is consistent with the well-known “Hispanic Paradox”.  We also used bivariate and multivariate statistics to determine if Black and Hispanic children are substantiated or placed more than White children once reported. DESCRIPTION:Training Overview\nAs we wind down 2024 while simultaneously ramping up for 2025\, let’s gather as leaders to develop our plans for leading more healthily and effectively in the New Year. \nThis Spotlight brings together some of MCN’s top-rated leadership trainers from the recent past to offer a full day of learning focused on clarifying your purpose and intent as a leader\, understanding the impact you have as a leader\, and developing strategies and acquiring tools for bringing greater transparency and internal operations acumen to how you lead while remaining mindful of your wellbeing and that of your staff. If you are a leader at the executive\, director\, or manager level within the charitable sector\, this training is for you. \nParticipants of this Spotlight will: \n\nSharpen their ability to communicate effectively\, compassionately\, and boldly\nLearn how to strengthen their financial management for easing transitions and operations\nExamine practical ways to succeed at work without sacrificing your wellbeing\nReframe their thinking around impact to center outcomes rather than outputs\n\nSpotlights are day-long virtual trainings\, offering four to five 60- to 75-minute sessions\, each exploring a different aspect of a specific topic. Each session will be led by experienced nonprofit leaders and subject-matter experts. SUMMARY:NCAC Forensic Interviewing of Children Training
DESCRIPTION:Training Overview\nThe National Children’s Advocacy Center (NCAC) Forensic Interviewing of Children training is an internationally recognized\, research-informed and practice-informed intensive training. Participants will learn necessary skills to conduct a competent investigative interview of a child using the NCAC Child Forensic Interview (CFI) Structure. Participants will also be introduced to the evidence-based literature that supports the NCAC CFI Structure. This 4-day\, interactive training is facilitated by practicing forensic interviewers who are well-versed in the current literature. The training includes lectures\, skill-building activities\, guided discussions\, reflections\, and an interview practicum in a supportive environment with assessment and feedback provided by experienced interviewers. \nRegister through NCAC

SUMMARY:APSAC Trauma Informed Care (Spanish)
DESCRIPTION:Training Overview\nApproximately 50% of the population will experience some type of possibly traumatic event (e.g.\, exposure to violence in the home or community\, physical\, emotional or sexual abuse\, natural disaster\, violent death of a loved one\, etc.) during their lifetime.  Exposure to trauma significantly increases the risk of developing mental health disorders including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)\, anxiety\, depression\, suicidal ideation and self-harm behaviors\, substance use\, among others. The objectives of this workshop are to: 1) Define what trauma and adverse childhood experiences are\, 2) Describe the impact of trauma and common warning signs/symptoms of trauma by developmental level; 3) Describe what trauma-informed care is and provide practical coping strategies to use with youth. \n*This training will be offered in Spanish \nAproximadamente 50% de la población experimentará algún tipo de evento posiblemente traumático (ej..\, exposición a violencia en el hogar o comunidad\, abuso físico\, emocional o sexual\, desastre natural\, muerte violenta de un ser querido\, etc.) durante la vida. La exposición a trauma aumenta significativamente el riesgo de desarrollar trastornos de salud mental incluyendo el Trastorno de Estrés Postraumático (TEPT)\, ansiedad\, depresión\, ideación suicida y conductas de autolesión\, uso de sustancias\, entre otros. Objetivos de este taller: 1) Definir lo que es un trauma y experiencias adversas en la niñez\, 2) Describir el impacto del trauma y las señales de alerta/síntomas comunes de trauma por nivel de desarrollo; 3) Describir lo que es atención informada en trauma y estrategias prácticas de afrontamiento. \nRegister through APSAC\n

DESCRIPTION:Training Overview\nInterest in artificial intelligence (AI) has been exploding over the past couple of years\, particularly with the emergence of tools such as ChatGPT. While some estimates show that fewer than 25 percent of nonprofits have started using AI\, similar surveys show that over 65 percent say they are open to doing so. \nSpotlight: Building Your AI Confidence Muscles is designed for people who know the change is here and want to be proactive in introducing AI into their organizational workflow and processes. This full-day\, virtual training offers four 60-minute sessions that dig into the transformational potential of AI for the nonprofit sector and build awareness and confidence in the process. \nSpotlights are day-long virtual trainings\, offering four to five 60-minute sessions\, each exploring a different aspect of a specific topic. Each session will be led by experienced nonprofit leaders and subject-matter experts.
