DESCRIPTION:Training Overview\nJoin our comprehensive professional course led by an experienced clinician\, designed specifically to address anger management in teens. SUMMARY:IHS | Working with Families Impacted by Parental Depressive Disorders
DESCRIPTION:Training Overview\nThis intermediate-level training is designed to support caseworkers\, social workers\, counselors\, psychologists\, and other helping professionals who are working alongside families impacted by a parental diagnosis of a Depressive Disorder. \nWhen parents suffer from mental illness\, the entire family is impacted. This training explores the effect on children when their parents have a Depressive Disorder mental health diagnosis. Participants will also engage in an exercise to help them have greater empathy for parents who struggle with Depressive Disorders. This training offers practical recommendations for facilitating support and change for parents who may struggle with their symptoms. Participants will also develop informal action plans to support their professional work with families. \nThis intermediate-level training is designed to support caseworkers\, social workers\, counselors\, psychologists\, and other helping professionals who are working alongside families impacted by a parental diagnosis of a Depressive Disorder. DESCRIPTION:Training Overview\n\n\n\nMunchausen by Proxy Abuse continues to be under-recognized by those empowered to protect children. \n\n\n\n\nMunchausen by Proxy and Medical Child Abuse: Updates for Interdisciplinary Practice \nMunchausen by Proxy Abuse\, also known as Medical Child Abuse\, continues to be under-recognized by those empowered to protect children. Recent high-profile cases have brought Munchausen by Proxy Abuse and Medical Child Abuse (MBPA/MCA) under greater public awareness and scrutiny. This training provides updates for child protection\, legal\, medical\, and mental health professionals. A pediatrician\, forensic psychologist\, and attorney will share best practices that facilitate determining whether this type of abuse is occurring in the context of custody disputes\, healthcare\, education\, or therapy. Munchausen Support is a non-profit foundation dedicated to supporting survivors\, educating professionals\, and providing resources to anyone who seeks help confirming whether their concerns should be taken seriously\, and steps to confirm or dispel whether abuse should be reported. We discuss our model of providing free online support groups as a trauma-informed and evidence-based modality. DESCRIPTION:Training Overview\nThis 3-hour intermediate-level course is for an array of human services professionals\, including social workers\, psychologists\, counselors\, and others who are working in child welfare and related careers. \nPeople’s brains are unique\, including yours\, your colleagues\, and your clients. Neurodiversity describes the ways that unique brains process and respond to the world. Trauma can be a contributing factor to some forms of neurodivergence\, and being neurodivergent can result in increased levels of trauma. Human services work is complex. Using strategies that routinely support all kinds of brains increases the well-being and safety of everyone involved. Trauma Responsive and Neuro-Inclusive strategies go well together. We will discuss ways to incorporate these strategies at the individual\, team\, and organizational levels. DESCRIPTION:Training Overview\nTechnology plays a tremendous role in our children’s lives. Learn about the ways children are interacting online to create better understanding and open up meaningful communication. Increase awareness of opportunities to protect and connect with children while also gathering valuable information to mitigate threats posed by individuals who seek to exploit them. \nThis day-long seminar is designed to educate a broad range of disciplines responsible for conducting investigations and safeguarding youth. Dana holds a master’s degree in criminal justice\, and she has worked extensively in education and harm prevention surrounding technology in the state of Wisconsin. Dana is a former Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Commander; in her tenure with the Wisconsin Department of Justice\, Dana managed the program operations for the ICAC Task Force\, including managing Wisconsin CyberTips from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and collaborating with Wisconsin law enforcement regarding investigations\, outreach\, and training events. Throughout her career\, Dana has provided online safety outreach to over 30\,000 people.
