DESCRIPTION:Training Overview\nCalifornia has long been a hub for child trafficking\, with children in the child welfare and juvenile justice systems at particularly high risk. This introductory training provides an overview of Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) and Child Labor Trafficking —including how each is defined under law\, where and how trafficking occurs\, and the unique vulnerability factors that put youth at risk. \nParticipants will gain a foundational understanding of the complex trauma experienced by survivors and the importance of a multidisciplinary\, trauma-informed response involving child welfare\, probation\, education\, public health\, mental health\, advocates\, and other key partners. \nThe session will also highlight the Child and Family Policy Institute of California’s Preventing & Addressing Child Trafficking (PACT) Program\, which facilitates a statewide collaborative of more than 45 county-based child trafficking response programs. SUMMARY:APSAC Child Forensic Interview Clinics
DESCRIPTION:Training Overview\nAPSAC’s comprehensive Clinic offers a unique opportunity to participate in an intensive training experience focused on the basic skills and knowledge necessary to conduct child forensic interviews. Participants will have personal interaction with leading experts in the field of child forensic interviewing. Attendees must complete pre-clinic assignments and respond to communication from the Clinic Director prior to the event. There will be homework and self-study assignments following each day of the Clinic.  In order to receive a certificate of completion participants must complete mock child forensic interviews with actors and pass a test following the conclusion of the Clinic. Members of existing multidisciplinary child abuse investigation teams including Child Advocacy Centers (CACs)\, professionals who are responsible for conducting child forensic interviews for police agencies and government-sponsored child protection agencies\, and child abuse pediatric fellows are the target audience for APSAC’s Child Forensic Interview Clinics. The APSAC Clinic is an initial training for these professionals who conduct in-depth forensic investigative interviews of children who may have experienced or witnessed maltreatment\, exploitation\, neglect or other crimes. The Clinic is not appropriate for and will not accept professionals who conduct child interviews for other purposes. \nTo meet the criteria for attendance\, you must be one of the following: \n\nEndorsed by a CAC as someone who is or will be responsible for conducting in-depth forensic interviews of children on a regular basis.\nEndorsed by a police agency as someone who is or will be responsible for conducting in-depth forensic interviews of children on a regular basis.\nEndorsed by a government-sponsored child protection agency as someone who is or will be responsible for conducting in-depth forensic interviews of children on a regular basis.\nA child abuse pediatric fellow.\n\nUpon completion of the Clinic participants will need to be able to implement the training as a member of (or endorsed by) an existing CAC and/or multidisciplinary child abuse investigation team.(Exceptions are extremely limited and must be approved in advance by the Clinic Director and will only be considered on a space-available basis.) The APSAC Child Forensic Interview Clinic will be conducted in English and participants must be fluent in English. DESCRIPTION: Training Overview\n\nThis course is for investigative professionals who work with children and families of abuse.\n\n\n\nAdvanced Forensic Interview Training \nThis training is designed to provide multiple opportunities for professionals to expand the scope of expertise surrounding their forensic interviewing practice. Topics have been selected based on requests from the field and will build upon the foundational knowledge and skills that learners have developed to this point. There are a limited number of online activities that need to be completed prior to the in-person CornerHouse training. These activities are intended to establish a shared foundation and allow learners to focus on the application of research- and practice-based knowledge and information during the in-person portion of the curriculum. All learners are requested to bring a forensic interview recording for review. \nLearners who complete CornerHouse’s Advanced Forensic Interview Training will: \n\nEngage in the process of peer review and consultation\, for the purpose of increasing skills and knowledge as well as increasing familiarity with the significance of the process.\nDevelop a solid foundation to effectively speak to the basics and the complexities of forensic interviewing\, particularly in a legal setting.\nEnhance their capacity to adjust\, address or negotiate the numerous challenges presented in a wide range of forensic interviews.\nIncrease interviewing skills and abilities in regard to target populations\, including adolescents\, children with unique needs and varying abilities and witnesses to crimes.\n\nHow is the training provided? \n\nThe 6 hours of online learning is required and will be available 3 weeks before the in-person training. SUMMARY:NCAC | When Children Recant: Strategies for the Forensic Interviewer
DESCRIPTION:Training Overview\nRecantation by a child or adolescent of child maltreatment allegations may occur for many reasons and can have significant implications for child protection\, police investigation\, and prosecution. Recantation may result from external pressure from an alleged offender or family or may develop from internal reasons such as protection of self or others. Child witnesses may recant their allegations before or during the initial forensic interview\, following the interview and subsequent investigation\, or leading up to judicial proceedings. Decisions about a possible re-interview of the child should be made by the investigative team and the forensic interviewer. This training provides guidance for the forensic interviewer in effectively addressing a recantation with their multidisciplinary team as well as in the preparation for and the process of conducting the forensic interview. Steps will be outlined for coordination with the multi-disciplinary team partners including preparation and planning for the interview\, and critical thinking throughout the interview process. \nThis training is recommended for forensic interviewers who have been trained in an evidence-based FI process and who routinely conduct forensic interviews. \nRegister through NCAC\nRegister by Monday\, January 19\, 2026. \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Training Overview\nMany children from immigrant and refugee families have loved ones at risk of deportation. For these children\, immigration enforcement operations in a community can pose a risk to mental health and development. Fortunately\, supportive adults in a child’s life can play a large role in protecting children’s mental health and promoting positive development. \nThis training offers concrete strategies that adults can use to support children during periods of uncertainty and fear. Drawn from the field of developmental resilience science and informed by clinical practice\, these strategies leverage ordinary resources around a child — most importantly\, the presence of caring adults — and can be applied by anyone in service to children\, including parents\, educators\, clinicians\, and community leaders.
