Social connections comprise an important component of a happy and healthy life. Data on the benefits of social connections will be provided\, in addition to understanding how a lack of connection impacts individuals mentally and physically. SUMMARY:CalTrin | Problematic Sexual Behaviors in Children and Adolescents: The Do's and Don'ts for the Criminal Justice System
DESCRIPTION:Training Overview\nWhen a child or adolescent sexually acts out it can be a scary experience for not just a parent\, but also for the provider working with the family\, especially if the child is justice system involved.  This webinar will first correct common myths and misconceptions about children who sexually act out (e.g.\, the supermajority of these children are highly responsive to treatment and are NOT pedophiles). \nThe second aspect of this webinar will be a walk-through of the evidence for how to treat these children and the likelihood of success (e.g.\, with appropriate\, evidence-based practices children 3 to 18 who engage in these behaviors are up to 95% successful in treatment and do not sexually reoffend again).  Finally\, the last part of this presentation will tie parts one and two together to answer the question of how providers in the criminal justice system can best help these families as well as keep the community and public safe. \nDuring this webinar\, participants will discuss: \n\nThe “rules of thumb” for addressing problematic sexual behaviors (PSBs) in youth.\nMethods that are contraindicated and counter-therapeutic for intervening in youth with PSBs.\nSpecific resources (e.g.\, NCSBY) and interventions (e.g.\, PSB-CBT) that are effective in helping youth and families impacted by PSBs.\n\nRegister Through CalTrin\n

DESCRIPTION:Conference Overview\nThe objective of the San Diego Conference is to develop and enhance professional skills and knowledge in the prevention\, recognition\, assessment\, and treatment of all forms of maltreatment including those related to family violence as well as to enhance investigative and legal skills. Issues concerning support for families\, prevention\, leadership\, policy making\, secondary\, and translating the latest research into action are also addressed. \nThe conference will address a range of important multidisciplinary topics in the fields of child maltreatment\, human trafficking\, and domestic violence. SUMMARY:Children with Problematic Sexual Behavior: Who Are They and How Can We Help?
DESCRIPTION:Information on Problematic Sexual Behavior: Cognitive Behavior Therapy with Dr. Jane F. Silovsky\nRegister: Webinar Series Hosted by APSAC \nWorkshop Description\nProblematic sexual behavior (PSB) of children is a commonly misunderstood behavioral health concern. The taboo nature of the topic of “sex” hinders openness to understanding even typical sexual behavior of children. Decisions are made on myths rather than on research on PSB in children\, including its responsivity to treatment. \nThis presentation will begin with foundational information on the continuum of sexual behavior in youth\, prevalence of problematic and illegal sexual behavior\, common misconceptions\, and components of effective interventions. Problematic Sexual Behavior: Cognitive Behavior Therapy will be described and information provided on the learning collaborative training process and how to access training. \nSpeaker Biography\nJane F. SUMMARY:Problematic Intrafamilial Sexual Behaviors
DESCRIPTION:This interactive training series will follow one family’s journey and increase the participant’s understanding of what problematic sexual behaviors are\, where they come from\, and how to respond empathetically and in the best interest of all the children. \nPlease note\, this training will take place over three sessions\, the first of which will be held on July 14. When you complete the registration below\, you will have the opportunity to indicate your attendance at all sessions. \nTraining Overview\nThe training utilizes an interactive module from the intervention Problematic Sexual Behavior – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Adolescents (PSB-CBT-A) where participants explore common reactions of caregivers. Participants also practice the best ways to engage with families and how to offer concrete solutions that address safety concerns within the home. The curriculum also focuses on supporting families as they navigate the system response after a mandated report is made\, including planning for reunification if members of the family are separated. \nSessions\nIn order to meet best practice standards for online training\, the training will be offered as a three-part series. \n\nSession One: A Family’s Journey Through Problematic Sexual Behavior and their Community’s Response (July 14\, 2020)\nSession Two: Engaging with Caregivers of Youth with Problematic Sexual Behavior (July 21\, 2020)\nSession Three: Navigating the System and Safety Planning for Intrafamilial Problematic Sexual Behavior (July 28\, 2020)\n\nIntended audience\nProfessionals that interface with families and respond to problematic sexual behaviors including advocates\, forensic interviewers\, CAC staff\, and child abuse multidisciplinary team members.
