Learn how to covertly strengthen your investigations by gathering personal\, public\, and open-source data. Discuss techniques to locate evidence through technologies that can benefit any investigation. He is currently a sworn law enforcement officer assigned to the Technical Services Unit and specializes in digital forensics\, cellular network analysis\, WiFi analysis\, and various other technology related disciplines. Prior to joining the TBI\, Special Agent Vallee worked as a Detective with the Metro Nashville Police Department. He has worked in law enforcement for 18 years and has been a law enforcement instructor for over 12 years. He is currently assigned to the criminal investigations division where he primarily works cases involving internet crimes against children. In addition to his current assignment\, he serves as a technical adviser to his department’s hostage negotiations team and is the team leader for the sheriff’s underwater recovery team (S.U.R.T.). He is a P.O.S.T. certified Child Abuse Instructor and has received training in Advanced Investigation and Prosecution of Child Abuse and Exploitation through the National Advocacy Center. Since 2008 he has attended training in Modern Internet Communications and Cell phone investigations from the FBI and a number of the nation’s private vendors. The training will explain the long-term impact of these crimes on victims\, offer a victim-centered response\, and provide information on reporting these crimes to law enforcement\, National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the electronic service provider(s). This course will conclude with identifying effective Sextortion prevention messages for youth\, parents and educators. Participants will learn how the Darknet works and how potential criminal activity is facilitated on the Darknet is crucial to investigating and prosecuting child exploitation cases. Additionally\, participants will learn how to access other locations on the Darknet. \nExpert Presenter\nJustin Fitzsimmons is the Program Manager of the High Tech Training Services division of SEARCH Group\, Inc. He trains at national\, state and local conferences on the subject of sexual and physical crimes against children. He is on the executive board of the National Children’s Alliance. He is licensed to practice law in Illinois and has significant experience as a prosecuting attorney. Prior to joining SEARCH Group he was a Senior Attorney with the National District Attorneys Association. He managed NDAA’s technology-facilitated child exploitation unit. Before joining NDAA he was the supervisor of the Special Prosecutions Unit of the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office.
