DESCRIPTION:Training Overview\nAccording to the National Crime Victimization Survey Dashboard (NCVS Dashboard: Quick Graphics (ojp.gov)\, 81% of violent victimizations in 2023 (e.g.\, assaults\, robberies) involved non-intimate partner relationships between victims and offenders. Additionally\, only an average of 9.8% of violent victimizations in 2023 included assistance from a victim services provider. \nLaw enforcement-based victim services often represent the most effective response to address the rights and needs of victims and co-victims of violent crime. DESCRIPTION:Training Overview\nChildren with a disability are at high risk for victimization. Forensic interviewers well trained in their discipline may lack confidence when speaking with a child with a disability\, as it is unrealistic to expect that an interviewer be well-versed in the impact of the wide variety of disabilities on a child’s behavioral\, cognitive\, linguistic\, and emotional functioning. DESCRIPTION:Training Overview\nForensic interviewing of children and adolescents is a complex process that requires specialized skills\, including the ability to support emotionally distressed children while collecting accurate information about potential criminal events. While intensive training and peer review help build interviewing skills\, a more strategic approach is needed to sustain and enhance those skills. \nEven skilled interviewers may lack abilities in supervision and coaching. This training will arm supervisors with new knowledge and skills to develop to support interviewers’ growth in four key competency areas: question typology\, protocol adherence\, social support\, and critical thinking.  Adaptations will be provided for interviewers at all levels. \nThis training is open to those having previous and/or ongoing experience in conducting forensic interviews and are currently responsible for the skill development and support of other interviewers. \nRegister through NCAC\nRegister by Friday\, August 11\, 2025!
