Training Overview (Spanish)
Nuestra exhaustiva Clínica ofrece una oportunidad única para participar en una experiencia de capacitación intensiva, centrada en las habilidades y conocimientos básicos necesarios para llevar a cabo entrevistas forenses a niños. Los participantes tendrán la oportunidad de interactuar personalmente con expertos destacados en el campo de la entrevista forense infantil. Los asistentes deben completar tareas previas a la clínica y responder a las comunicaciones de los Directores de la Clínica antes de que comience el evento. Se asignarán tareas y actividades de aprendizaje al finalizar cada jornada de la Clínica. Para recibir un certificado de finalización, los participantes deben realizar simulacros de entrevistas forenses infantiles con actores y aprobar un examen al concluir la Clínica.
Los miembros de equipos multidisciplinarios ya establecidos para la investigación del abuso infantil —incluyendo los Centros de Defensa del Niño (CAC, por sus siglas en inglés)—, los profesionales responsables de realizar entrevistas forenses a niños para organismos policiales y agencias gubernamentales de protección infantil, así como los médicos residentes (fellows) en pediatría especializada en abuso infantil, constituyen el público objetivo de las Clínicas de Entrevista Forense Infantil de APSAC. La Clínica de APSAC constituye una capacitación inicial para aquellos profesionales que llevan a cabo entrevistas forenses de investigación exhaustivas a niños que podrían haber sufrido o presenciado maltrato, explotación, negligencia u otros delitos. Esta Clínica no es adecuada para —y, por consiguiente, no aceptará— a profesionales que realicen entrevistas a niños con fines distintos a los mencionados.
Para cumplir con los criterios de asistencia, usted debe pertenecer a una de las siguientes categorías:
- Contar con el respaldo de un CAC que lo designe como la persona responsable —actual o futura— de realizar entrevistas forenses exhaustivas a niños de manera regular.
- Contar con el respaldo de un organismo policial que lo designe como la persona responsable —actual o futura— de realizar entrevistas forenses exhaustivas a niños de manera regular.
- Contar con el respaldo de una agencia gubernamental de protección infantil que lo designe como la persona responsable —actual o futura— de realizar entrevistas forenses exhaustivas a niños de manera regular.
- Ser un médico residente (fellow) en pediatría especializada en abuso infantil.
- Los profesionales radicados fuera de los Estados Unidos, cuyos países no cuenten con un modelo de Centro de Defensa del Niño (CAC), también son elegibles para postularse.
- Personas interesadas en la capacitación de entrevistas forenses a niños que puedan demostrar un camino definido hacia un puesto responsable en la profesión de entrevistador forense.
Al finalizar la Clínica, usted deberá estar en condiciones de aplicar la capacitación recibida como miembro de —o con el respaldo de— un CAC y/o un equipo multidisciplinario de investigación del abuso infantil ya existentes. (Las excepciones son sumamente limitadas; deben ser aprobadas con antelación por losl Directores de la Clínica y sólo se considerarán en función de la disponibilidad de plazas). La Clínica de Entrevista Forense Infantil de APSAC se impartirá en español; por consiguiente, los participantes deben dominar el idioma con fluidez. APSAC no ofrece servicios de interpretación.
Training Overview (English)
Our comprehensive Clinic offers a unique opportunity to participate in an intensive training experience focused on the core skills and knowledge necessary to conduct forensic interviews with children. Participants will have the opportunity to interact in person with leading experts in the field of child forensic interviewing. Attendees are required to complete pre-Clinic assignments and respond to communications from the Clinic Directors prior to the start of the event. Assignments and learning activities will be assigned at the conclusion of each day of the Clinic. To receive a Certificate of Completion, participants must conduct mock child forensic interviews with actors and pass an examination at the conclusion of the Clinic.
Members of established multidisciplinary teams for child abuse investigation—including Child Advocacy Centers (CACs)—professionals responsible for conducting child forensic interviews for law enforcement agencies and government child protective services, as well as pediatric fellows specializing in child abuse, constitute the target audience for APSAC’s Child Forensic Interview Clinics. The APSAC Clinic serves as foundational training for professionals who conduct comprehensive investigative forensic interviews with children who may have experienced or witnessed maltreatment, exploitation, neglect, or other crimes. This Clinic is not suitable for—and, consequently, will not accept—professionals who conduct interviews with children for purposes other than those stated above.
To meet the attendance criteria, you must belong to one of the following categories:
- Be endorsed by a CAC that designates you as the individual responsible—currently or in the future—for regularly conducting comprehensive forensic interviews with children.
- Be endorsed by a law enforcement agency that designates you as the individual responsible—currently or in the future—for regularly conducting comprehensive forensic interviews with children.
- Be endorsed by a government child protective services agency that designates you as the individual responsible—currently or in the future—for regularly conducting comprehensive forensic interviews with children.
- Be a pediatric fellow specializing in child abuse. Professionals based outside the United States—whose countries do not currently have a Child Advocacy Center (CAC) model—are also eligible to apply.
- Individuals interested in child forensic interview training who can demonstrate a defined path toward a position of responsibility within the forensic interviewing profession.
Upon completion of the Clinic, you must be prepared to apply the training received as a member of—or with the support of—an existing CAC and/or a multidisciplinary child abuse investigation team. (Exceptions are extremely limited; they must be approved in advance by the Clinic Directors and will be considered only subject to space availability.) The APSAC Child Forensic Interview Clinic will be conducted in Spanish; therefore, participants must be fluent in the language. APSAC does not provide interpretation services.
