Training Overview

Get Grant Ready is tailored to nonprofits and focuses on preparing them to secure funding through grants. This comprehensive training session equips participants with the knowledge and tools to assess and strengthen their nonprofit’s readiness to attract funding. Through interactive discussions, real-life case studies, and hands-on exercises, attendees will learn to evaluate their nonprofit’s current state, identify potential barriers to securing grants, and develop targeted strategies to overcome any deficiencies or challenges.

Learning Objectives

  • Assess Organizational Readiness: The workshop will enable participants to assess their nonprofit organization’s current readiness for funding, with a focus on grant funding. This includes evaluating leadership alignment, resource allocation, program effectiveness, and community engagement to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Develop Customized Funding Strategies: Participants will learn how to craft tailored funding strategies specific to their nonprofit’s needs and objectives. This includes creating targeted communication plans, building relationships with potential funders, and leveraging technology and data to enhance grant application success.
  • Create Actionable Roadmaps: The workshop will empower attendees to develop actionable roadmaps for improving their nonprofit’s readiness for funding over a defined timeline. Participants will leave with a clear plan outlining steps, responsibilities, and milestones to ensure sustained growth and successful grant acquisition.

Who Should Attend: Staff, consultants, and volunteers of family-resource centers, community-based organizations, Child Abuse Prevention Councils and other child- and family-serving systems who are new to grant writing or not meeting with grant fundraising success; Leaders of newly established organizations; board members.

This is an interactive training. Please be prepared to participate in activities such as group discussion, break out rooms, and/or demonstration. Your training experience will be best with the use of a web cam, audio, and a training environment conducive to active participation.

This training will be recorded. The recording will be available to registered learners within 2 days of the training.

This is a small-group training. Spaces are limited space and there may be a waiting list. Preference will be given to applicants from California. All applicants will be contacted by the week of October 21, 2024.

CalTrin “No Show” Policy: CalTrin workshops often have limited spaces and waiting lists. Due to the cost of training and time associated with planning each CalTrin workshop, confirmed participants are expected to attend for the full duration. Confirmed participants who do not attend training and do not contact CalTrin in advance may not be selected for future application-based workshops.
