Training Overview
Central MN Child Advocacy Center and Stearns Benton Child Protection Team are presenting this training opprotunity, featuring key speakers Ellie Krug, Dr. Gail Dines, and Dr. Mandy Sanchez. This training is for social workers, mental health professionals, law enforcement, guardian ad litem, professionals working with children, educators, medical professionals, and advocates.
Goals & Objective
- Gain a nuanced research-based understanding of the social, emotional, and cognitive impacts of hypersexualized pop culture and pornography on young people.
- Understand the ways the pornography industry targets youth via social media platforms.
- Gain an easy-to-understand toolset on how to be more welcoming of anyone who is “other” in our society.
- Learning guiding principles of trauma-informed and culturally responsive care as well as techniques for being a trauma-informed helper.
- Explore ways to increase the efficacy of child abuse investigations through a collaborative approach between law enforcement officers and child protection workers.
- Explore the importance of intentional self-reflection and self-care practice and the influence of boundary awareness and expression.
- gain knowledge and understanding about abuse and neglect, and develop an understanding of what occurs after a mandated report is made.
- Develop an understanding on how to be inclusive toward anyone who identifies as trans or nonbinary.
