Training Overview
Testifying in court can be stressful and anxiety-inducing, whether you are a lay witness or an expert in your field. This presentation focuses on a strategic approach to witness preparation aimed at enhancing your effectiveness on the stand and boosting your confidence. Discover tools and techniques to integrate into your preparation process to make the most of the time you have with an attorney before trial. Critically assess how to utilize your background and expertise while conveying complex concepts to judges and juries. This presentation will feature perspectives from both a prosecutor and a forensic interviewer, providing a comprehensive approach to avoiding the perils and pitfalls of courtroom testimony through a deliberate preparation process.
This important training is being offered FREE to MDT members within the state of Minnesota. MDT members include any Child Advocacy Center (CAC) staff, law enforcement/peace officers, Department of Children and Families, attorneys and advocates within a county attorney’ office, medical providers and educators who serve/work with their local Child Advocacy Center. Objectives
- Discover how to make the most of the chance to work with an attorney to enhance your confidence, highlight important aspects of your biography and experience, and rehearse delivering succinct and clear responses.
- Develop the skill to identify potential weaknesses or inconsistencies in your responses to anticipated questions before delivering testimony in court.
- Emphasize data that substantiates the case strategy while ensuring that the reliability and credibility of the information provided does not undermine your integrity.
- Understand how demeanor, delivery, body language, and clear responses to inquiries impact your credibility and effectiveness as a witness.
