Training Overview
Children who are grieving understand and integrate grief differently than their adult caregivers. The manifestation of grief through behavior and play can often be confusing for caregivers and misunderstood by teachers, resulting in feelings of shame and isolation for the youth.
It is vital that professionals working and interacting with young people impacted by grief and trauma understand grief through a developmental lens and are equipped with strategies for supporting youth and coaching their caregivers.
In this webinar, participants will explore common misconceptions about grieving youth, how a young person understands and integrates grief at different developmental stages, and strategies for supporting young people and caregivers who are grieving.
Learning Objectives
- to identify critical factors for young people navigating grief.
- to coach adults on how to explain death to children.
- to identify specific tools to coach caregivers on how to support grieving children.
