Training Overview
This is a newly redesigned, interactive, no-cost, in-person gathering designed to strengthen multidisciplinary collaboration and improve outcomes for children and families. Through facilitated discussions, peer to peer learning, and individualized consultation with state and local experts, participants will identify practical strategies that can be applied within their own multidisciplinary teams, tailored to their team’s stage of development.
Participants will explore principles and best practices for effective teaming, learn strategies to enhance communication and coordinated decision-making across disciplines, and examine collaborative approaches that address the complex needs of children and families. The goal is to provide a collaborative and individualized training experience reflective of different applications of MDTs.
Teams and topics explored include:
- Child protection screening and case review teams
- Child protection multidisciplinary investigative teams
- Domestic violence/sexual assault reponse teams
- School partnerships/truancy prevention
- Human/labor trafficking/Safe Harbor teams
- Tribal and county partnerships
- Utilizing teaming and collaboration when responding to family resource needs, crisis, pre-natal exposure and substance use, and case consultation
These trainings are designed for professionals who work with child protection multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) or collaborative partnerships, as well as those interested in developing a new team in their community. Applicable disciplines include child protection workers, law enforcement, prosecution, medical, mental health, advocacy, community-based liaisons/supports, cultural or spiritual leaders, policy partners, and others.

The Training Academy is approved to provide free social work CEUs, as well as continuing legal education (CLE) and law enforcement POST credits for full day attendance. Lunch will also be provided for registered attendees on in-person learning days.
